10 Easy DIY Kids Hair Accessories

A Simple DIY You Can Do With Your Kids

There is a huge variety of hair accessories available for girls and young teens these days, but sometimes you can end up spending upwards of $10 for a single hair clip...insane, right?

I've come up with 10 easy DIY hair accessories that are also cost effective. So set aside a half hour, because it's time to get crafty with the young girl in your life!

Here are the simple steps to create your own fashionable hair accessories:

UNICORN GLITTER CLIPS

I purchased these unicorn charms from Hobby Lobby. The Paper Studio products go on sale frequently for 50% off, so make sure you buy them then. Remove the hook from the charm and hot glue it to a cute clip...so easy!

GEMSTONE CLIPS

I used the same pack of glitter clips for these gemstone clips, which I purchased at Target. The gemstones were purchased from Hobby Lobby. I hot glued the three stones together, then glued them to the clip.

WOOD LETTER CLIPS

I love these clips because there are endless possibilities. Choose a meaningful word, initials, or even use her name. I hot glued the letters together before gluing them to this rose gold clip, which was purchased from Target. The wood letters are again from Hobby Lobby.

BUTTON CLIPS

Most crafty people have buttons handy somewhere in the house. If not, all craft stores have a huge selection. This is another hair clip with endless possibilities. The colors you choose, the button type, how you layer them...all will change the overall look of the clip. The clip was part of a 12 pack of glitter clips purchased from Target.

PINWHEEL CLIPS

The scrapbook aisles at Hobby Lobby are a great place to find embellishments for jewelry and accessories...that's where I found these adorable pinwheels for these clips. A little hot glue, and you have another cute clip!

CRYSTAL BARRETTES

If your little one likes to wear her hair up, these crystal barrettes are the perfect girly touch. Hobby Lobby carries a selection of decorative crystal trim in the fabric section, where the ribbon rolls are. I just cut the trim to size and hot glued it to a barrette...so easy!

JEWELED FEATHER CLIP

This next clip was made using feathers and a large gemstone. I already had these items, but both can be purchased from Hobby Lobby or another craft store. I was also able to utilize another clip from the 12 pack I purchased from Target. The color selection and combination on this clip is endless!

FLOWER CLIPS

What little girl doesn't like flowers? These clips are some of my favorite, and again...so easy to make. The flowers were found in the scrapbook aisle at Hobby Lobby (they are not listed on their website), and the clip was found at Target. I did remove the paper sticker off the back before hot gluing, to make sure the flower was secure.

BOW CLIPS

These leather bows are really trendy right now, but will never go out of style for girls. The bows were again found in the scrapbook aisle at Hobby Lobby and hot glued to the clip.

BUTTERFLY CLIPS

These butterfly clips are my favorite! They are so feminine and there are so many choices of colors and styles available. As you probably guessed at this point, these butterflies were also purchased at Hobby Lobby.

And that's it! As you can see, these projects are incredibly easy to make and are cost effective as well. Which one is your favorite? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how these projects go for you!
