How to Create a Polymer Clay Quote Bracelet

Step by Step Instructions

My 4 year old daughter loves jewelry and playing dress up. I found some girl's bracelets with inspirational quotes online and thought I would give one a try.

Here are the steps to create your own Polymer Clay Quote Bracelet:

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

(1) Tassel

(1) Eye pin

(1) Bead cap

3-5" Chain

(4) Jump rings

(1) Lobster clasp

Letter/quote stamp

Clear nail polish

Clay Oven (regular oven can be used)

STEP 1: ROLL & CUT CLAY

I use Sculpey clay for our clay jewelry projects. Choose your clay, then roll a piece out to 1/4" thick.

Use your rectangular clay cutter to cut two clay shapes. I always make two in case I mess up one in the stamping process. Be sure to put any extra clay you don't use in a ziploc to keep it from drying out.

STEP 2: MAKE HOLES & STAMP

Next, use the tip of the round nose pliers (or an awl) to create a hole on each end of the clay rectangle. This is how you will attach the chain for the bracelet.

Then, use your stamp you chose to stamp a quote onto the clay rectangle. Be gentle so you don't smash the clay.

STEP 3: BAKE CLAY

Follow the instructions on the clay, but most clay you will bake for 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 275 degrees.

Let the clay cool down completely before moving to the next step.

STEP 4: APPLY TOP COAT

Use either clear nail polish or an acrylic gloss sealer to apply a top coat to the baked clay rectangle. Let dry completely.

STEP 5: MAKE TASSEL

Slide the eye pin into the top of the tassel. Bend the eye part to secure the tassel.

Next, slide the bead cap over the pin and onto the top of the tassel. Cut the pin so only 1/2" is sticking out from the top of the bead cap.

Use the round nose pliers to make a new loop in the pin.

STEP 6: ASSEMBLE BRACELET

Use your pliers to assemble the bracelet. Attach the chain to the jump rings, and link the jump rings to the clay piece. Secure the lobster clasp and tassel.

Check out our video on using jump rings HERE. Not sure what pliers to use? We have a video on that as well! View the jewelry making pliers video HERE.

And that's it! Pretty simple if you know how to work with the jewelry findings. Kids will love this project too!
